Kikapay is an open banking payment facilitator. Vendors embed a Kikapay link instead of a payment form; the customer authenticates with their bank directly and Kikapay orchestrates the EFT. The vendor never sees or stores sensitive credentials.
Architecture
The platform is a set of Python gRPC microservices deployed on Kubernetes with Helm charts. Each service owns a single domain — link generation, bank authentication, payment execution, and webhook delivery — and communicates over internal gRPC calls.
My contribution
I worked across the payment execution and webhook delivery services, improving reliability under load and adding retry logic with exponential back-off. Infrastructure provisioning moved to Terraform during my time on the project.
