Projects is a task coordination service designed for agent-driven workflows. Work is organised in a three-level hierarchy — projects contain tasks, tasks contain subtasks — with explicit dependency edges so subtasks only become claimable once their dependencies are complete.
Work leasing
Agents claim subtasks via a gRPC work-request API. Each claim is a short-lived lease; the agent must heartbeat to keep it alive. If the lease expires, the subtask returns to the queue automatically. This prevents stalled agents from locking work indefinitely.
Interfaces
The management API is also gRPC. A pctl CLI wraps it for human use and a Bubble Tea TUI provides an interactive task browser. MCP integration lets any coding agent that speaks MCP create projects, claim subtasks, and report progress directly from the coding session.
